Reclaiming Space: A Return to My Sacral Self

What Happens When You Actually Listen to Your Energy?

Last week, I took a step back.

Not because I had a perfect plan.

But because my body whispered, enough.

I’d been pouring energy into all the behind-the-scenes things—editing endless PDFs, building sacred offerings, holding space for others—and in the middle of it, I lost track of my own center.

Morning and night, I felt pulled at. Texts, notifications, energy leaks, overstimulation. You know the feeling.

So I paused. I pulled my energy in. I took time to myself.

I needed soul-me space.

As someone who’s still breastfeeding… with a needy German shepherd in my face and a cat who decides nighttime is the perfect time for snuggles, even my “alone time” doesn’t really feel alone. And if you’re an empath like me, you know how sacred it is to have even five minutes without someone or something needing you.

In that pause, something unexpected started to stir. I wasn’t just resting. I was rooting. Letting the energy settle into my body again. Letting my own magic start to move me instead of being constantly moved by everyone else.

My creativity needed just me time.

During my week I wanted to spend time working on my sacred henna tattoo drawings—art that’s deeply personal, energetic, and spiritual. These won’t just be pretty designs for clients. They’ll be activations. Intentions made visual. Sacral codes through art.

And I realized… I needed to do this for me first.

Boundaries are self-devotion.

It’s okay to not answer right away. It’s okay to say, “Not right now.” It’s okay to step back and not explain.

For empaths and healers, this can feel like betrayal at first. We’re wired to help, to hold, to be available. But I’ve learned (the hard way) that we cannot serve from depletion. We cannot create from burnout.

Reclaiming my space this week reminded me:

Boundaries are not barriers. They are bridges to your own soul.

I say all this as someone still learning, still stretching. But I’m also walking in the wisdom. And that’s what I get to share.

If you’re feeling the pull to disconnect, do it. Even for an hour. Even for a breath. Let your energy root before it flows. Let your “no” be the gateway to your most sacred yes.

With devotion and breath,

Elizabeth
